Two snips on the industry...

BancBoston Robertson Stephens senior automobile services analyst Jordan Hymowitz today gave a positive quarter outlook for the rental car group, including Hertz (NYSE: HRZ - news; rated Buy), Avis (NYSE: AVI - news; rated Buy) and Dollar/Thrifty (NYSE: DTG - news; rated Buy).

''With continued positive pricing trends accompanied by strong transaction increases, we believe that Avis, Hertz and Dollar/Thrifty will exceed our quarterly estimates,'' said Hymowitz. ''Avis, in particular, recently commented that our $0.71 earnings per share estimate could be several pennies low.''
