US FDA says Warner-Lambert withdrawing Rezulin

WASHINGTON, March 21 (Reuters) - Drug maker Warner-Lambert Co.WLA is withdrawing its controversial diabetes drug Rezulin from the U.S. market, federal health officials said on Tuesday.

The Food and Drug Administration said in a statement that the New Jersey-based pharmaceutical company had agreed to an FDA request to pull Rezulin, which had been linked to fatal liver failure.
