Sticking up for a cat is fixing a broken window. Agreed. In Fairfax, you can rent a Hav-a-hart trap from the animal shelter for $5. Bait the trap with sardines, cover it with an old blanket. It's actually harder to catch a feral cat than it may sound. You may have to leave the trap for several days until the human smell washes away. They're wily. But harmless, unless it's a tom that sprays. I do "catch and release," take them to a vet who will spay or neuter for free, and then put them back in their old environment. They kill varmints. Feral kittens can be tamed, but very hard to tame a grown feral cat.
