I don't expect them to give up easy - why should they? They'll fight for themselves, and they'll make plenty of good arguments. However, as I said, I can't envision anything resembling the current system surviving - if we end up going socialized.

There would be, inevitably, many situations when malpractice victims would not get compensated fairly.

"My bad, we did our best, sorry.... we are all human, we all make mistakes... we'll try harder next time..." -- this may be all many people will be getting in lieu of compensation.

I'm very strongly FOR malpractice reform, but the ways of socialism may surprise many of those who, for now, seem to like the idea.
