Sorry Tim...don't know the answer to everything..Here are some interesting STATS...

Instead...

China

In November 1998, Nikkei BP AsiaBizTech reported that there are 1.5 million registered Internet users in China.

The number is expected to reach 5 million users by December 1999. Chinese computer users will comprise an important consumer force in the near future.

Hong Kong

In April 1998, ACNielsen reported that there are 850,000 households accessing the Internet in Hong Kong.

Taiwan

In October 1997, IDC Research reported that there are 480,012 people accessing the Internet in Taiwan.

IDC estimates that the total number of Internet users will increase to 659,451 by the end of 1998 and 2.41 million by 2001.

Japan

In October 1998, Nikkei Market Access reported that there are 11.5million people accessing the Internet in Japan.

Korea

In November 1997, AsiaBizTech reported that there are 1.5 million people accessing the Internet in Korea.

The Ministry of Information and Communication estimates that this number will increase to 2.5 million by the end of 1998

Mexico

In September 1998, News.com reported that there are 500,000 people accessing the Internet in Mexico.

The UK

In October 1998, CNET reported that there are 6.5 million people accessing the Internet in The UK.

This number represents 16 percent of the UK's adult population that have used the Internet in the last six months. This compares with 12.4 percent or 5.4 million in the previous six months. Internet use in Britain has jumped from 5.1 percent of the population in December 1995. The figures cover the period ended September 1, 1998.

Russia

In August 1998, Internet Magazine reported that there are 900,000-1 million people accessing the Internet in Russia.

Germany

In September 1998, Europmedia reported that there are 12 million people accessing the Internet in Germany.

During the last 6 months, the number of Internet users in Germany has grown by about 33 per cent, according to the GfK-Online-Monitor, published by Gesellschaft für Konsumforschung (GfK, a German consumer development company). More than 12 million have Internet access and the average user bears a closer resemblance to the average citizen than in previous surveys. People between 20 and 39 form the largest group of users and people with higher incomes also dominate.

Canada

In November 1998, Nua reported that there are 6.3 million users accessing the Internet in Canada.

The figures are for users age 16 and over, and represent 26% of the total population.

Israel

In July 1998, ZDNet News reported that there are 500,000 people accessing the Internet in Israel.

This penetration rate ranks Israel 12th in per-capita Web use with 10% of its population online.

The usage figures were surprising considering the high number of high-tech startups in Israel. But observers said the high cost of telephone use had held down the growth in the use of the Internet in Israel

The US

In December 1998, Ziff-Davis's Technology User Profile reported that there are 60 million PCs connected to the Internet in The US.

The number of PCs connected to the Internet soared 35 percent between January and August, from 45 million to just over 60 million, according to Ziff-Davis's Technology User Profile 1998 Mid-Year Study. That means more than half of all PCs in use in the U.S. are now Web-enabled.

PCs in the workplace led the charge with a 52 percent increase in the number of Net-connected systems, from 16 million to 24 million. But home PCs still represent the lion's share of the market, with 28 million consumer PCs hooked up to the Internet, Ziff-Davis said.

The World

In June 1998, Matrix Information and Directory Services (MIDS) reported that there are 102 million accessing the Internet in The World.

This number is estimated as of January 1998 and has increased from the estimate of 57 million in January 1997.

MIDS estimates that the total number of worldwide Internet users will grow to 707 million by 2001.
