Thanks for the responses. I share WEagle's frustration about the 45 degree rule of thumb. Is there a reason to not use mostly logarithmic-scale charts for our purposes? Doing so would take away that frustration. I understand that Ted couldn't because he was limited to the kind of charts that were available at the time.
