Janice, while there are some potentially amusing aspects to a back-to-the-sixties trip, avocado and harvest gold appliances are not one of them, at least to me. Different strokes for different folks and all of that, of course, however.
Unfortunately, I do have a harvest gold refrigerator. I think it is from the seventies, and it is the most modern appliance in my kitchen. The stove is a Welbilt, a brand that must have gone out of business decades ago. The oven and some of the burners must be lit with a match. It resembles my grandmother's stove from the late 1940's, although it is less modern than that.
You hit the nail on the head when you said harvest gold simply won't do anymore. Color is very seasonal now, and palettes go in and out of style on an almost yearly basis. While I loved the pink kitchen appliances of my youth, and our bathroom fixtures are a beautiful medium sky blue, I think that if I were in a position to choose colors in a remodel or something, I would choose . . . white, and very classical designs at that, since white goes with anything. I like bright colors and change, and want flexibility so that I can mess around and have fun.
I am dying to know what elegant tones Italians are choosing this year. Italian design is always of the highest quality and best style, for sure. |
