NGEN Nanogen gets grant for detection system development

SAN DIEGO, Oct 10 (Reuters) - Nanogen Inc. <NGEN.O> on
Wednesday said it has received a three-year, $1.5 million grant
from the U.S. Army to continue development of its biological
warfare detection systems.
Nanogen develops miniaturized electronic devices for
isolating and detecting biological warfare and infectious
disease agents from human blood samples.
The company said the U.S. Army Medical Research Institute
of Infectious Disease at Fort Detrick, Maryland will supervise
the research. It is the second such grant Nanogen has received
from the U.S. Army.
