Stock Market:

Most if not all of us are on SI through an interest in the market. I notice that the markets soar on hopes of victory but retreat when it looks as if this will drag out. It's difficult to determine how clear cut victory will be. Victory may be 'declared' soon, but will this be victory? Depends on the aftermath, whether it will drag on into civil war, especially if America tries to install stooges to govern.

But IMO America (not sure where Blair's gyrations will take the UK) will have to maintain a large standing army in Iraq. When this reality sinks in what will that do for the stock market? The battle in the Administration will be between the hawks who will want to take the battle to Syria and Iran, and the others who want to stay put. Either way it will be a drag on the economy and will effect the domestic economy and will allow the Dems to attack the Budget goodies of the Republicans. So this could be a quagmire. And maybe the smart ones are selling into these market surges.
