One more question:

Halliburton doesn't even own Dresser since last spring. Doesn't that make it somewhat harder to collect from Halliburton? I would think that those who bought it also assumed all liabilities.

EDIT: I see the sale was Dresser Equipment Group, which seem distinct from Dresser Industries.
