Don't generalize about Europe. I live in a rich part of Europe, and I don't see much inflation. Gasoline prices are lower than 1 or 2 years ago, food prices are a small part of the budget, and we are more concerned about the environmental problems when people who heat their homes using wood, than inflation. One of the poorest countries, Ukraine, has a totally different view on it: Inflation is huge, food is a huge part of budgets and their currency is tied to the dollar, and inflation is a hot topic in politics.

And yes, inflation is a political problem in Europe, it's not something that is solved by the ECB.
