The union signs as an agent of the employees it represents.

The contract stipulates specific terms.

If the company then turns around and offers those same terms to other employees who do not use the union as an agent that's properly the company's right.

Its similar to a health insurance company negotiating a discount for its members with a hospital. If the hospital then offers the same price (or even a better one) to people who have other insurance companies or no insurance at all, the hospital is not stealing from the 1st health insurance company.
