I don't see why we can't call it a theory. Sure, evolution is pretty much taken for granted- after all we've seen it happen with fruit flies and other animals with short life cycles- but it doesn't denigrate it to say "This material should be approached with an open mind, studied carefully and critically considered.'

Wouldn't it be nice if it said that on the doors of churches as well? And on every religious text :-)
