What Barron's overlooked was the fact that there were about 60 percent sellers on 5 April and about 70 percent sellers on 7 April -- meaning a lot of Ameritrade's retail investors got out before last week's beating. Only time will tell if they were smart to start buying back in last week.

Also, look at what they were buying. The Top Ten list is CSCO, JDSU, MSFT, ORCL, QCOM, AMTD, EMLX, YHOO, CMGI, NOK. This is a pretty nice blue-chip list, not exactly the wild, indiscriminate buying of AMZN and TSCM that Alan Abelson would have you believe retail investors are engaged in.

Barron's is so set on "getting" the individual investors and funneling us back into the pros' hands that they will go to almost any length to distort the facts and analysis to make their case.
