Hi Count,

I think it is of paramount importance for us now to stop our dependence on foreign oil.

Here I recommend the following:

A) CA already has an up to 50% rebate on solar power equipment. This should be increased further to may be 75% ....If the cut even price for this investment is brought down to within 5years...people will go and put this up on their roofs. This will save huge amounts of energy. Similar things can be done for wind power for areas where that would be a viable alternative.

B) Better fuel car incentives. No taxes on buying or using (fuel) for cars that give better than 70 miles/gallon.

C) Increase taxes on gas to pay for these rebates/incentives. (I know every body hates higher gas prices but we need them to wean ourselves from this addiction)

Any other ideas for reducing our middle east oil consumption?

The sooner we get of our oil addiction the less we are dependent on such flippant allies.
