New Zogby America survey reveals Majority favors Bush tax cut;

But split on economy/surplus impact

A majority of likely voters nationwide favors President-elect George W. Bush’s proposed

$1.6 trillion tax cut believing it will stimulate a slowing economy. But those same voters are split on whether the proposed tax package will have a negative impact on the federal surplus, a new Zogby America Survey reveals.

In the survey, conducted January 5-7 of 1001 likely voters nationwide, 53% support the proposed $1.6 million tax cut, compared to 34% who oppose the measure and another 13% who are not sure.
