Good article. Explains a lot. The US that I grew up with was never real. We're just a fraud. All the ideals I thought we held high were just words. Even now, our President shows us how all of our ideals are just toilet paper. Obama is against Democracy...in Syria. Why? Because Syrians hate all of the tribal jihadis that are making their lives miserable and would vote for Bashar Assad if they were allowed to vote in free and fair elections. Bashar made their lives stable and better. The jihadis are killing them and destroying their homes. The US doesn't like Bashar, so we throw away our ideals in favor of arming terrorists to overthrow him. When Iran calls us the Great Satan, should we forget that decades ago we overthrew their Democratically elected leader and installed a brutal Dictator, the Shah of Iran, who they subsequently overthrew in their Revolution? Could it be that is why they hate us? We've played out this game of overthrowing Democratically elected leaders to supplant them with Dictators favorable to the US, over and over again in the Middle East and elsewhere. The whole of the Middle East, and in fact, the whole world hates us, because we have done terrible things there, just to secure our oil supplies and our hegemony. We are terrible people. The only use we have for the rest of the world is the money we give them. That's why the rest of the world has their hand out for our largesse, even as our own people and infrastructure do without.
It's time we start electing people who the have integrity to live by what we claim to be our ideals. Saudi Arabia is not our friend, never has been, and we can do without their friendship. In fact, we'd be better off without it, because we'd have to deal with the rot at the core of the US...our lack of values. It's time we elect leaders that focus on fixing our own house first and worry less about other countries. We need to learn to be self-sufficient again and we need to be less generous in giving our wealth away to other countries when we are poor right here at home. |
