RE: the voters' inability to pick a president

THis seems to be a major misunderstanding. The voters do not pick the president. The electorial college does. The USA is NOT a democracy. We are a Constitutional republic. There is a difference. Read the writings of the founding fathers, and their scorn for a "mob rule" democracy. The constitution spells out exactly how this situation is to be resolved. The responsibility falls on the state legislature. The courts will not decide who won Florida. The responsibility will ultimately fall on the Fla legislature. In the end, what matters is that the constitution stands and the rule of law prevails. That is more important that Gore or Bush. To paraphrase Jefferson, all elected officials are mini tyrants, bound from misdeeds by the chains of the constitution. Let us insure that those chains are not broken.

Make certain that Al Gore will cry foul when the Fla legislature intervenes. But then, he keeps referring to our country as a democracy, and it is not. But let us not forget, he did fail out of college twice.
