Speaker icon stuff ... I'm still puzzling over this thing. Anyway, I found the registry key that seems to control the icon. [HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Applets\SysTray] "Services"=dword:00000006 "Services"=6 on my system shows the icon "Services"=2 on my system omits the icon I'd conclude that the third least significant bit is the flag used for icon display. You could check your system when things are working and when they're not and see if this value changes. Cheers, PW. P.S. The original question was why the yellow speaker volume control icon disappears randomly from SysTray.
