Hi El Mat - re: getting us to make a move. Maybe they figure they can keep doing things like this without paying much of a price. I am thinking of the 1993 attack on the World Trade Center, the bombing of the embassies, the bombing of the USS Cole, the assasination on US soil of CIA employees - all we did in response was "bring the perpetrators to justice." The man who killed the CIA officers here in Fairfax in 1993 is still exercising his Constitutional right to appeal, 8 years later.

It's going to be tough, really tough, to find Bin Laden. He doesn't use telephones, he gives orders face to face or in writing. There are people who know where he is, and if they don't tell us, I guess we'll have to go house to house. He specializes in construction, he's built bunkers in the mountains in Afghanistan, so I guess we may have to start combing through mountains, too, not sure if we know how to do it but we'll learn.

The worst happens when the mission becomes routine.

If they keep attacking our interests, the mission doesn't become routine. Plus, they expend human resources they can't get back and will take time to replace.

I don't think the powers that be in any of these countries is willing to sacrifice that much for Bin Laden. Almost everyone in the world looks after their own interests, including Bin Laden. If he's got 100 or 1000 or 10000 followers willing to die for him, they still need to operate in the real world, which does not want to die for Bin Laden.
