There are three balancing drivers: US, Europe and China. Each one of them dangerous for the rest off the world.

US thinks it can delay return to natural size.

Europe thinks that it can keep its experiment EZ Euro standing.

China thinks that the planners can control economic events according to 5-year plans.

All three putting a brave face:

US does not want to lose the face and accept comparisons such as it went down like USSR did.

Europe doesn't not want to lose face that its experiment failed.

China is too proud and the communist party must not show to the populaces that it must adapt.
