Geez, that's a big deal. I think the Register had a story about this a week or so ago - but it presented as a rumor and just seemed too bizarre to take seriously.

The article mentions that the problem has been known to HP and Dell for weeks - maybe this is what made HP finally decided to go with Athlon - they needed something they could rely on. Despite the nonsense that went on when Intel tried to stop the motherboard manufacturers from supporting Athlon, I'm almost feeling sorry for them at this point - what else can go wrong for them?
