...I'm skeptical that even people much more competent than me, who spend far more time following the technology than I am willing to, are able to pick winning technologies in advance.,,
That is a wise choice. You are correct. That is why there are those of us who follow Gorilla Gaming. There is more to the success of a technology than the technology itself. That book is a study on what to look for, what stage the technologies move toward success is, and when it becomes a sure bet. DS has admitted openly that NTAP's technology beyond NAS market is not considered a sure bet, yet. However, it has what it takes. We must look for what it takes for it to become a success. And act accordingly. That is what the GG thread spends much of it's time discussing and researching. The post I put up here recently simply discussed NTAP succeeding. We need to be on the same page in what exactly NTAP is succeeding in. I can easily see what I wrote about. I hope that you will be able to also. You don't need to be a techie to follow Gorilla Gaming. However, if you're not a techie, you are forced to believe a company when they say a technology works. I think NTAP has a fantastic track record of showing when they say something works, it in fact works. NTAP also has a long track record of making something work that nobody else could. The companies NAS filers are an excellent example. To this date, nobody has still successfully succeeded in competition against NTAP's NAS filers. There is a long road of has been failures proving this. All you ever read about are the new boys comming up against NTAP. I hope you will read NTAP's website. When they say they have something, and it works. Believe them. Then look critically for evidence of that succeeding. I am seeing success. I hope you might be able to see that success forming also. Bear in mind. When the analysts talk about projections of earnings. They have not included expectations we have for NTAP's success in total storage solutions. They are just now starting to swallow the possibility of NTAP's success in the SAN storage market. Why? They cannot deny the evidence being provided right now. There is no reason you shouldn't know enough about NTAP that you don't know that their SAN storage is nothing but banks of NAS filers running together serving blocks of data. You should know that same SAN solution is at the same time serving files out the other side of those same NAS filers in that bank. So it is much more than a SAN storage system. If you keep reading to find out their total storage solution. You will find those same NAS filers to be the heart of that solution. You will also find that solution to be much less expensive, scalable, customizable, and works with anything out there. I could keep babbling on and on about this. The best place for you to learn about their systems is on their website.
