Jean, Joe, VK do you concur?

EKS

P.S. I am also reviewing NOVELL's partnership with UtiliCorp United which uses"NEST" Powerline Technology and trying to determine when we might see revenue <<

Hi. I'm still here. Been busy for a few days, and will be away on
business next week.

With regard to earnings projections for Q2: I belive they have already
prepared the street, and have intentionally given a more conservative
outlook. Eric, I am not as optimistic about Q2 earnings as you, but
I do think they will come in over what is being projected (but not
by much). Now for Q3 and beyond here is my take:

We know this; Frankenberg will not make any aquisitions with the
cash on hand. If anything, there will be strategic investments. IMO,
Microsoft doesn't have Novell in it's crosshairs now because of MSFT's
focus on Netscape. Microsoft will (IS) going to postpone Cairo, and
it will not include directory services anywhere near NDS as they
originally promised, so Novell has even more breathing room. If Novell
can capitalize on just HALF of the things it promised at Brainshare
and put together a strong marketing campaign, they will be in a SOLID
growth pattern this time next year.

Scott asked about other players taking notice of Novell now. Well my
take on that is, yeah, that's right <g>. Novell WAS and still IS
MSFT's arch enemy. They fell from grace. They were a darling, they
just now released the baggage. Netware IS a superior NOS when compared
to anything else out there, and the corps. know this. This is round 2
for MSFT and NT, and NT is selling TREMENDOUSLY (in the MEDIA), but
not in actual units shipped)). Anyway, I had said before let's wait
till 'after' Q2 (that means in 'myspeak <smile> going into 97'.

I also have heard from some fund managers very postive data on Novell
now. The crucial thing is, they have to maintain focus and DELIVER
on what business strategies and plans they are promoting to the
industry. THEY HAVE NO SECOND CHANCE THIS TIME (and they know it).

If they get over the bad perception, etc... They are in, I mean it's
back to Major Player Time again!

Joe.

PS: I agree with Vinod and Ehall on NEST. More priority should be
given to Netware, Groupwise XTD, Managewise and what is obvious to
me anyway (smile), having 50+ million servers installed -- hooking
them to the net with the least pain (and from the Quarterdeck annnoucement -- that's exactly what they are doing).

Sooooo........ We Shall See, Won't We?
