well, steve, here's the thing. i have spent years collecting companies and subdividing them into various groups, and i spend hours each week adding and deleting companies to both bring in new ones and delete those that have experienced a change in fortunes.

and when we get a technology wave, like the internet or fiber optic or or something huge i usually spend a weekend early on in the wave to farm my universe for appropriate plays and then stay hard on top of those for as long as the wave is running. for fiber optic it should be a few more years easy.

now, i have given thought from time to time as to how to make this universe avail and the sub groups as well, including changes once every two weeks or so and including new sub groups tailored and tied to a wave i feel has staying power...waves like that only come along once in a while...say once every two years or so. but man o man it is worth the time to get that subgroup plugged in.

what i have not been able to decide is how i would do this and what would be equitable. there is literally a number of individual fortunes in these lists and i do put a LOT of time into them. and even in bad mkts some of these stocks perform well..for the two months of april and may i made what most people would be comfortable making for the year...and those were BAD months.

so........how to set a value????
