Christine, at the risk of being banned from GOOFiland I'd like to
share some ideas about life, love and the pursuit of happiness.

First a link to but one of thousands of sites where this timeless
truth has been posted on the web. I chose this one for the sound
that accompanies it. Hope you have a sound card!

dfw.net

The message here is that first and foremost in order to find true
fulfillment you have to look within yourself and find the
natural, boundless happiness that is woven into your very existence.
Don't pass the responsibility for your happiness to anyone else.
Your happiness cannot be dependent on anyone/anything else; not
your family, not your god, not your bank account, not where you are
or what you do.

When something happens, or someone does something that "makes you
unhappy" it is only because you have given that something/someone
control over your well-being. It's not what happens that makes you
unhappy, it's how you respond to what happens. Once you realize that
you have within yourself everything necessary to be a happy, fulfilled
being, a serene sense of freedom and contentment will follow.

What's even more amazing is that all of a sudden, things will start to
"go right" instead of wrong. Life starts to "click" so to speak. All this is important because before you can help anyone else be happy or
truly love anyone else, you have to be filled with love and happiness
yourself. Then those around you bask in the overflow.

What must you do to find this "inner self". In a word "nothing". Try
it. Give your self 15-20 minutes a couple of times a day to do Nothing. Do your nothing in a quiet place where you won't be
interrupted. There is no need for any mystic chants or special
positions. Just sit or lie quietly and dwell on the "peace there may
be in silence". Instead of being driven by your thoughts, observe
them without judgment except perhaps to laugh at their frantic pace
as they run hither and yon, skipping from one subject to another.
Watch for tiny gaps in the flow, moments when there are no thoughts,
just pure silence. That is where you'll find what you're looking for.

Another word for the above is meditation. There is plenty of
information in bookstores and on the web. Be suspicious of anything
that requires that you join something, contribute to something or
says that there is only one right way. You are a child of the
universe and the right way for you is within yourself.

Peace, Love, Happiness

Que te vaya bien... Steve
