Well, law is more than rules to me, and it's certainly not a religion -- it's entirely man-made, for one thing.

Law is simply the decision to accept limits on oneself in order to demand limits on others.

It is the alternative to dueling. Without law, everyone is free to rob, kill, bomb, anybody they want for any reason they can justify to themselves.

It's like pregnancy. You either believe in the principle of the rule of law (not meaning you never break a law, but when you do, you accept the consequences) or you don't. Believing in law when it's convenient but not when it's not is anarchy, not law.
