Erik - >>We should not yet move on past the "earnings discussion"<<

Couldn't agree with you more on this. I generally try not to comment on posts which don't interest me, but GEE WHIZZZ - we've just had the biggest dump of news from top management that we've had in a lonnnggg time - many, many interesting and intreging statements, AND - it seems that the vast majority of posts here have dealt with anything but this.

Couple of mainpoints that I am going to be watching:

- KE's statement about getting Zips into OEM boxes as their #1 near term goal... I read that to mean - DA STANDARD - PERIOD.

- The continued development of "...a strong corporate foundation as a basis of the business plan." I read that to mean short term success should not come at the sacrifice of long term growth. I'll be watching for indications of this.

- DREAM TEAM committment to the development of IOM ICs. I think the playing field for SYQ just got tilted on end. I will be watching for announcements that the DT's r&d has kicked out some IO miracle chips.

-Penang - The extrodinary success of the ramp up must be followed by equally extrodenary production results as IOM takes on more of its own manufacturing and moves the Zip production there too. I'll be watching for indications that this is the case.

-Asia - KE says sales are starting to pop there and that Asian sales will no longer be grouped with the no.s from the US. IOM needs big time results from this region to sustain its growth profile. We are talking ACER here. I'll be watching to see that the market and the sales develop (explode?) with the necessary vigor.

Competion - gotta love KE's comments about keeping a close eye on them (probably a major understatement by the master of understatement), NONE OF THEM SHIPPING IN QUANTITY GOING INTO NOVEMBER!!! Shorts, you folks have got to address this issue - IOM virtually uncontested in the Christmas market? Also, as I mentioned before, KE's killer instinct as a marketer revealed when he said, "We will look at them (competition) as a large threat and deal accordingly." I like that kind of attitude from the head of a company that I am invested in.

Marketing - another comment KE made that I haven't seen mentioned yet - came inresponse to a question from an analyst concerning the (lack of) success of the private branders of IOM products - KE said, "... they sell, we market." I like that, too.

Finally- the attitude of the analysts - way positive and congradulatory - nice to hear, but I'll be watching for it to show up in improved ratings, recommendations, etc.

IOM showed us a lot the other day. We should do our homework, keep and eye on their progress, and hold them to the goals they have set.
