Gary: I'd be remiss if I didn't mention that Brinker harmonized
with your assessment of the import of the recent "Money Magazine"
cover supposedly trumpeting the sale of stocks. The issue in
question must be the August 1997 issue. I haven't found it on
newstands. A fellow called in Saturday and declared that the
article advised investors to sell off 20% of their positions.
(Shades of BH?)

Brinker hadn't yet read the article but responded that an opposite
cover advocating all out purchase of stocks would have made him
nervous. He suggested the headline to be a contrary indicator.
He alluded to the famed 1982 cover (Time or Newsweek?) proclaiming
"Stocks Are Dead." Of course, the NY Times cover Business section-
of the Sunday in August (DJIA 777) just before the beginning of the
world's greatest bull market the following Monday- announced that
"Wall Street is a Basket Case" or words to that effect.

That being said, I well remember the "Money" cover of some while
ago trumpeting "Buy Stocks Now!" No contrary indicator that.
