Assuming that real prices charged to OEMs and distributors reflect these prices, I think you are right that 500-600 are end-of-life and they'd rather sell a 700 than a 650 (your graph makes that very clear!)

I am not sure why these should be end of live products. It appears that the 500 - 600 CPUs could in fact be sold as 650 or higher, but there is still a good demand in the 500 - 600 range, and AMD happily satisfies this demand.

The prices of $170 - $200 AMD charges for these CPUs are fine, and they are profitable. The limited supply of K6-2 550, and lack of 600 makes these Athlons even more important.
