Plenty of polemics have been written about British meddling. Perhaps they even helped the British meddle less, but even if they didn't, it's important that in a free society the expression be made- and mistakes should be called mistakes (if one thinks they are mistakes). It seems so odd to pussy foot around such important topics. If it's important enough to kill a young man or woman over, by sending them to war, perhaps it's important enough to have a real debate over- without worrying about cleaning up the talk about all the deaths. If you believe in your cause, you ought to be able to stand the fact that other people think it was a mistake and that you are wasting lives. If you are that sensitive about the language of an honest argument, makes me wonder how you have the fortitude to tolerate all the deaths.

I don't think Gallipoli is antiwar- I'd call it anti stupidity and waste, which is the reason I brought it up. I'm not anti war at all- but I'm against stupid wars that aren't likely to have a decent result. Big difference - and one a lot of people don't get, but that doesn't make the difference disappear.
