Obviously, the abortion issue isn't something we can solve

At least not any time soon.

I wasn't trying to argue the broader issue here, just pointing out its rather questionable as an issue of "inclusion".

As for more stringent abortion laws, didn't two attempts at that get voted down this week?

At least one (maybe both, I didn't look it up) was an attempt to define the unborn child as a human life. Not that this would have much of a practical effect in the context of Roe vs Wade and the subsequent decisions by the USSC, but it could be seen as an attempt to move towards outlawing all abortions. Outlawing all abortions gets opposed by a majority.

Bush and the slashing of budgets for birth control

I don't know the specific facts, but I consider it unlikely. Bush didn't slash much of anything. And often budgets get falsely called slashed when they didn't even get cut, let alone slashed.

most especially abortion

Abortions didn't receive significant federal funding before Bush, and federal funding of abortion is not a position that receives majority support.

When the Republican party allows its identification to lean too far to the Evangelical right

Its identification in the minds of the left, but really the Republicans have done very little for the evangelical right.

Doesn't matter who made the laws, the more inclusive party NOW is the Dems.

I don't think either idea is a very solid one.
