Israel had 800 armored vehicles vs. 113 for the Arabs, 787 mortars vs. 40 for the Arabs, 4 field guns vs. 102 for the Arabs.

You just crossed the line from propaganda to comedy, Thomas. The Hagannah didn't have a single armored vehicle in May 1948. Well, I take that back. In O Jerusalem!, Collins and Lapierre say that the Hagganah stole one Daimler armored car from the British early in 1948.

The Jews couldn't buy arms openly, since they weren't yet a state, and the British blockaded the coast. Smuggling in rifles is one thing; armored vehicles are not so easy. They didn't have artillery. They didn't have a tank. They had a handful of civilian planes as their "air force". The British-supplied Arab armies had all these things.

The Israelis only got armored verhicles during the June 1948 cease-fire, when the arms from Prague began to arrive. 'Course, that didn't stop the Arab commanders from claiming they were vastly outgunned, to explain how they had managed to lose to a contemptible gang of Jews.
