DJ Bush To Replace Abizaid As US Ctrl Command Chief -ABC

NEW YORK (Dow Jones)--U.S. President George W. Bush intends to replace the two top generals involved in the oversight of the war in Iraq, ABC News reports on its Web site Thursday.

According to the report, Bush is to replace U.S. Army Gen. John Abizaid at Central Command with Adm. William J. Fallon. Part of Central Command's responsibilities include overseeing operations in Iraq.

Fallon is currently head of Pacific Command.

Meanwhile, ABC News said, U.S. Army Gen. George Casey, the highest-ranking U.S. military officer in Iraq, will be replaced by Lt. Gen. David Petraeus.

U.S. officials were quoted as saying that the announcement is expected next week, before Bush gives his speech on strategy in Iraq.
