It is interesting that to cover their actions, the perpetrators are relying on the argument that what they buried is not human remains, but mere "human medical waste":

"A party seeking to bury cremated unclaimed human remains, for example, is bound by numerous legal requirements, including a year's waiting period after death, Ms. Stafford said. She said she believes the church members violated no laws if all they did was bury human medical waste, which is subject to different rules."

This raises the question: If it is mere medical waste, why provide it with a Catholic burial?

The truth is they are cowards who lack the courage to stick to their guns.
