Saddam had not had intention to destroy Iraqi oil field at all. You need to do your homework ... there are numerous articles with Iraqi oil workers who were ordered to wire wells to blow ... They did so at the threat of death ... they also boobytrapped the wiring in many cases so it would not blow. Why ? They'd read flyers warning them not to do so if ordered to. JB
