John C,

>>For someone who REALLY likes to dish it out, you really cannot take any criticism can you?
Is it anti-Canadian for someone from Canada to say something about Canada or is it only ok for Canadians to throw barbs at the US?<<

Well John, the vast majority of my concerns with the US are directed towards the current administration and its foreign policy, not America and her people in general or their cultural differences or their positions regarding social issues. Those things are for Americans to debate, and only when my country is brought into the fray as a comparison do I feel obliged to respond.

YOU,on the other hand, disparage towards all that is Canadian and raise your Stars And Strips at any and all given opportunities ,be it social issues like Health care or any other country specific topic that allows you to do a comparison. What is more annoying though,is your ignorance of this country in general and your poor record of providing factual information.Just because you lived here eons ago as a kid in one of the countries more detached provinces, does not make you an authority on the subject of Canada.

You and many others need to step back and realize the difference between criticizing ( constructively or otherwise ) the country and criticizing the current administration and its policies.Your tone has been “ anti – Canadian “ in the true sense of the term, mine has been anti – Republican, and more so, anti – Right Wing Extremism.

If you want to criticize the Government of my country, then have at it buddy.I might just join you if you get your facts straight and debate/discuss in a gentlemanly manner.I’m a huge critic of both sides of the spectrum here.Being a centrist and a realist has that effect I guess. But don’t do it here, cause some people don’t give a g-dd-m about this country and it must be irritating for them to have to suffer through it.

We have a sovereign threat for that anyway..<GGG>

>>Anyway I am no fan of the Liberals or the Ontario PC Government since all that coal burning pollution seems to impact the air quality at my cottage.<<

Coal sucks…period, but is used by both countries in probably equal percentages.Maybe you need to buy a wind-sock and get a bead on where exactly this pollution is coming from. You know, hep out a bit.<GG>

>>I was actually pleased at the reporting in the Globe and Mail for not whitwashing the report (as would have happened in Europe). <<

Me too…nice to see some honest reporting every now and again,eh?My response was to Moe who got it all wrong on the sewage issue, and further research showed Canada well ahead in that regard.I need to study this report from the Globe a little more though, and do some research on the make up this group.

>>My point was the hypocrisy of Kyoto. The US should have signed it and given it the same amount of attention the Japanese, French or anyone else has. <<

Kyoto is a boondoggle and can only work if all sides are sincere in respecting its intent and attaining its goals. The Bush Admin. not signing on sent a bad signal, regardless of some of the realities inherent within its own environment policies. It was discussed here at length at the time. There were no winners.
