It looks to me like you are ignoring West Texas, where "dry" was invented. None of that oppressive humidity that you have in East Texas. My uncle Cowboy Stubbs was sheriff of Hudspeth County, east of El Paso. He'd cruise in his Chevrolet, with an empty coffee can set on the floor for the Beech-Nut loose-leaf tobacco he used to chew. Cowboy was the real item.
