Goodman Fielder to Use Manugistics5 for Supply Chain Optimization
Australia's Largest Food Manufacturer Taps Manugistics for Supply Chain Leadership, Proven Solution, and Delivering Rapid Results

ROCKVILLE, Md., Sept. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Manugistics Group, Inc. (Nasdaq: MANU - news) today announced that Goodman Fielder, Australia's largest food manufacturer, will use Manugistics5 to optimize its supply chain. Goodman Fielder, a $A3.8 ($US2.3) billion company, will be implementing Manugistics as part of a total business re-engineering process which began last year.

Goodman Fielder is the result of a century of acquisitions and mergers, which resulted in a three-pronged organization that provides retail, commercial, and food services. It manufactures many of the household brand name foods in Australia and has a food service division which supplies fast food outlets, restaurants, factories, and hospitals.

''We evaluated numerous supply chain software vendors, but didn't want to wait for a release that was promised for next year. We need to be working with products that aren't vaporware,'' said Alec McQueen, Goodman Fielder's supply chain development manager. ''We saw Manugistics as the world leader in supply chain management and their solution was good and solid, so it made sense to partner with them. Our aim is to get the dollars rolling back in as soon as possible and Manugistics' proven ability to deliver rapid results was an important factor in our decision.''

Manugistics5 was chosen after a rigorous testing process last year of several supply chain software solutions. Goodman Fielder approached the evaluation from a business process and problem perspective, with the challenge being the ability to manage the diversity of its three main businesses. Before Manugistics, each of these divisions was managing portions of the supply chain with a variety of systems from enterprise resource planning, spreadsheets, and legacy systems.

Manugistics5 will be progressively rolled out with Goodman Fielders's SAP enterprise resource planning (ERP) system over the next two to three years in 100 sites for nearly 200 users.

Headquartered in Rockville, Md., Manugistics Group, Inc. is the leading provider of customer-centric supply chain optimization and has the largest global client base of any supply chain provider. The company's solutions are used by more than 700 companies to improve the flow of product within and among companies from raw materials or parts through manufacturing to delivery of product to the end customer. ROCKVILLE, Md., Sept. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Manugistics Group, Inc. (Nasdaq: MANU - news) today announced that Agora Food Merchants, the largest retail food franchiser in Canada, will use Manugistics5 as the company's end-to-end supply chain management solution. Agora will leverage Manugistics5 to manage customer demand planning and perform product replenishment, as well as manage inbound and outbound transportation scheduling.

Agora Food Merchants is a division of The Oshawa Group Limited, Canada's largest food retail franchiser with total annual sales of C$6.8 billion (US$4.2 billion). Agora will use Manugistics5 to coordinate distribution efforts to its 1400 food stores across Canada, from the Atlantic to Alberta. In addition to making sure that shelves are fully stocked to meet customer demand, the solution gives Agora the ability to provide customers with the freshest products by optimizing distribution of date-sensitive products such as produce or meat. Manugistics5 also allows Agora to model and plan for seasonal demand, ensuring that the company can satisfy the increased call for products such as cold beverages in the summer or hot chocolate in the winter.

''Manugistics is the only supply chain vendor that offers an integrated solution, optimized to meet customer demands. In addition, it provides the functionality we need to streamline all areas of our supply chain, as well as model the complex demand that arises with new products or promotions,'' said Brian Finn, Senior Director of Replenishment Systems, Agora Food Merchants. ''With Manugistics5, Agora will be able to respond to real-time changes in customer demand and still achieve reduced inventory levels and lower overall costs.''

Agora will be integrating the Manugistics5 supply chain management software with the Oracle Consumer Packaged Goods solution.
