This precisely is the problem with K6 core. Compare that to CuMine scaling and it should be immediately apparent that K6 is not fit for mainstream PC business and should be targetted to the lower MHz embedded/SOC business.

I think AMD management made a mistake by pumping K6 family longer than needed. Fortunately, this turned out to be a low impact mistake in dollar terms - thanks to CuMine ramp issues at Intel. However, the cost, in terms of improperly used design resources was probably high.
