Atmel Q1 loss 11c, revenue $296.5m (4:16 pm ET) Atmel (ATML: news, chart, profile) reported a net loss of $53.1 million, or 11 cents a share, on revenue of $296.5 million. Excluding one-time charges, the chipmaker lost 9 cents a share. Analysts surveyed by Reuters Research expected a loss, excluding charges, of 7 cents a share on sales of $304.8 million. The chipmaker expects sales to increase 2 to 4 percent sequentially during the second quarter.
