I agree with you that USR will be able to conform to the standard.
This is true regardless of their hardware design, simply because
they will guarantee through their participation in the standards
process that any proposed standard accomodates their design. As
I've said before, the standards bodies operate on the basis of
consensus.

However, it is to their benefit to delay the standard as long as
possible, so as to leverage more Total Control sales. They have
the capability to delay the standard, but consumers will quickly
tire of finding that their equipment is incompatible with their
ISP, so I think the standard will appear soon after the Rockwell
implementations hit the market.
