Cypress Semi sees pro forma profit in Q2

Cypress Semicondutor (CY: news, chart, profile) is up more than 3 percent to $8.48 after the San Jose, Calif., chip firm reported a first-quarter pro forma loss of $12.4 million, or 10 cents per share, meeting Wall Street's consensus estimate. Revenue rose more than 4 percent in the latest three months to $181 million from $174.4 million in the same period a year earlier. Looking ahead, the company forecast sequential revenue growth and a return to pro forma profitability in the second quarter. Seven analysts polled by Thomson First Call are looking for a loss of 4 cents per share in the period, on average.
