Hi MSI,

>My only concern is that people near me don't advocate killing me and my children, and don't support those that do.
I agree with you completely.
I have been in a war before and don't want to go there again...

>The naivete may be all mine. For example, how about these questions:
>- Do you think suicide bombers go to heaven and so on?
>- Would you feel obligated to go to the police if you had knowledge of criminal activity by a believer? Such as a terrorist act or support/concealment of a violent act?
>- Do you think Islamic countries can find a stable future, without constant warfare? Do you think the religion can be practiced in a way that is tolerant of others?

Well MSI... I know close to nothing about muslim minds...and so I am in no position to defend anything. I myself am struggling everyday with various mixed emotions....on one hand I want the US to ruthelessly destroy the Taliban...on the other hand I feel sorry for the poor innocent refugees (having been one myself)

When Kuwait was attacked by Iraq. Life as we knew it completely ended. We lived in constant fear and saw terrible things. I hated every Iraqi...I hated them so much that all you could do is give me a gun and I would have gone to Iraq with it.

To get out of Kuwait, we had to go by land through entire Iraq and exit through the Iraq-Jordan boarder (the only open boarder). While travelling this 2000+miles I really got to see what Iraq was. It was a completely destroyed country with its people living on the verge of starvation. I felt so sorry for them...and I felt even more sorry for hating them. The common folks where just simple people trying to find food for tomorrow.

I realized that not all people are bad. The common man just wants food, shelter and hope. It is the governments and extremist organization etc. that do the rest.

And so now remembering that I find it difficult to start hating so easily again. I shall hate...but I shall direct it to the cause and not the entire population. For my hope is that there must be atleast a few of these common men and women who only care about going about their lives (trying to find food for tomorrow).....why hate them.

May be I am naive. I completely grant you that. But the hope that there is even one American-Muslim who cares more about America then about Islam makes we want to be very cautious in condemning a their whole society.
