I agree Emile. Jesus was the manifestation of Eternal Life. Those who are in Him share in this nature in the present.

Re: The long-lasting nature of the soul and spirit. Continued existence in any form I guess could be referred to as "alive." But for those cast away I can't imagine anyone describing that as "life."
Here and now, even the unbeliever enjoys much good from God's hand though he/she may not recognize it as coming from Him.
