good to hear from you again.

i think others here on the thread (like gottfried) can help you better with your p166 endeavors than i can. in fact, i'll be paying close attention too.

i'll say that you should check with the manufacturer specifically on the memory upgrade for your mother board. reason i say this is i once had two dell p166's that came with 32mb ram. they were only able to handle an extra 32mb, per dell techs (and some literature), and beyond that performance would actually be hindered by extra ram. i did upgrade both machines to 64mb and still own one. as i recall, the mobo's actually have slots for more mem, or one could put a bigger stick in there, so it wasn't something that was visibly 'noticable'.
