When you think you can make up psychological diseases and diagnosis your political opponents with it, you are on troubling ground- since they are no doubt doing the same thing to you. Because we are likely to be unaware of our own biases it's just not a good idea- but I can't stop anyone from doing it. As I said, I even feel uncomfortable using "nut"- what I really mean is a fringe element so far out of mainstream that it is meaningless to the debate, and is irrelevant except as evidence of just how far off center some people can be. To me that's a denouncement. But I'm not a big fan of name calling, so my prose is bound to look mild.
