Jack, Thanks for asking. The why I know this is. I have studied the Bible so long that I'm determined that it will never be a dry well for me. I just keep studying it and these things come up.This isn't unusual. There is nothing it the Word that I will ever uncoverd that hasn't already been uncoverd and preached and taught by somebody else. I have no private revelations or interpratation of the Word.. One note first. Watch the translations. Different greek words are used but may be translated the same. This doesn't mean that the Bible has error. It just means things don't make sense unless use go back to the original Greek. There may be more than the 6. But, the references are: Tatartus: 1 pe 3:19, 2 Pe 2:4, Jude 6:7 Shalom has already defined this one very well a place that holds angels that commited special sin Paradise: Luke 16:19-31 23:43 This is where old testament saints went when they died. A temporary holding place since Jesus hadn't paid the price yet. Jesus went here during the 3 days and now there are no more people in here. Hades: mat 16:18 Luke 16:19-31 where unsaved people go now when they die. It too is a temp. holding place. It will be thrown into Lake of Fire at judgement. Jesus died and went here. This was Satan's bi mistake. Bottomless pit or Abyss: rev 9:1-3, 11:rev 20:1-3 Where the false prophet and satan will be bound for 1000 yrs. Hell or Lake of Fire: rev 20:14 and 20:15 This is where death and Hades and satan and demons and all unsaved end up for eternity. There is no one there now that we know of This is the only one that is debateable and I'm easy . We can not count it or count it.. I call it the Great Chasm: luke 16:26 A space between Hades and Paradise. I just listed enough references to show. Some of these items have alot more references. I not trying to start some kind of new religion with this. It is not an invention of mine. Other great teachers and studiers of the Word already figured this out and I just researched what their conclusions were in the greek and they are correct. If it is one thing I am dogmatic about is not starting another religion. Like in Rev 19:16 we see Jesus coming back with a tatoo on His thigh. So, some church gets a hold of this and starts a Church of the Great Tatoo where you cannot be saved unless you get tatooed. Other Churches have done this with Snakes. They take Mark chapter 16 and start a church that you have no fiath unless you can play with deadly snakes and drink poisons. Peace
