I remember the 70's- and I worked as a waitress and a cocktail waitress. No choices for me (except not working as a waitress- not a very great prospect, since it was one of the few jobs which could support me AND which was flexible enough for college). I also remember that going out to eat could be pretty unbearable- so we've had different experiences.
