I'm counting on Hillary to do that......my first priority would be to get the guys paying cap gains rates on carried interest, ie the hedge fund managers..... Then I would go after the corps that play the "inversion" game to get taxed at foreign rates.... There are lots more...…

Somehow I don't think Hillary or Trump will do much - but who knows.

I think a good way to raise money via taxes AND do the market a service (!) would be to have a tax - pennies or percentage - of very short term trades - any buy/sell less than a minute apart would be subject to the higher tax, perhaps even related to the time.

This would hurt high frequency trading which can be such a detriment to the market.

For example, if using percentage:
1 minute 0.01%
1 second 0.05%
0.1 s 0.1%
0.01 s 0.5%
0.001 s 1.0%
0.0001 s 5%
0.00001 s 10%
0.000001 s 20% (microsecond)

OMG - do you realize that we are actually talking about something rare on this board - stocks???
Politely???

Watch out, they might throw us off!
